Objectives

The NuTWInd (Nutrition Transition in French West Indies) project aims to characterize food supply and dietary behaviours evolution and their determinants in Martinique and Guadeloupe in order to understand the nutritional transition mechanisms in the Caribbean and to guide public health measures on both food supply and behaviours.

More specifically, NuTWInd is divided into 4 objectives:

  1. Evaluate the nutritional situation in terms of consumption and food supply over 20 years in Martinique and Guadeloupe
  2. Understanding determinants of consumers’ eating behaviours, with different approaches (sensory, social, economic, cultural...)
  3. Understanding determinants of food supply (stakeholder strategies, commercial trade, regulatory and tax policies, etc.)
  4. Evaluate the potential impact of the Caribbean most relevant specific actions at the consumer level and at the food supply level
